Frequently Asked Questions

What is Home Watch?

The National Home Watch Association defined Home Watch as “a visual inspection of a home or property, looking for obvious issues.” As Accredited Members of the NHWA, we abide by this definition and it’s application as we do our visits.

What area do you serve?

We serve anywhere in Volusia County. We specifically serve Edgewater, New Smyrna Beach, Port Orange, Ponce Inlet, Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach Shores, Ormond Beach, Margaritaville and Venetian Bay.

What will my insurance cover while I am gone?

Typical homeowners insurance policies won’t cover fire, vandalism, liability or other types of claims on an unoccupied or vacant property. For example, if you leave your home for a few months and there is a fire, flood or vandalism, your standard homeowners policy possibly wont cover it.

Are you a house sitter service?

We are not a house sitting business. Our core service involves visits to your home, adhering to a specific checklist agreed upon by both parties. We conduct these visits on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, ensuring that your home remains exactly as you left it. We take immense pride in maintaining the condition of your property

What type of reporting can I expect from you?

First Responder Property Watch will send you a detailed report by email and text with pictures of any problems identified upon completion of inspecting the interior and exterior of your home. We use up to date Home Watch IT technology.

We have a neighborhood watch program. Doesn’t that do the same thing?

Unlike most neighborhood watch programs, which tend to be passive, First Responder Property Watch offers a higher level of engagement with your property. We conduct thorough checks of both the interior and exterior, surpassing the level of detail typically provided by a neighborhood watch program. You will receive immediate notification upon completion of our inspection and if any issues require attention.

If I need coordination with contractors doing work on my home can you help?

First Responder Property Watch will provide access to services and remain on-site for an hourly charge. We ask for at least a 48 hours notification to schedule our personnel.

Can you help me with home maintenance services?

While we do not provide home maintenance services, we can do light repairs as well as refer you to quality contractors or vendors and coordinate access to your property. We have plenty of contacts for reputable and dependable contractors for plumbing, electricians, HVAC, Irrigation, remodels and many more (many who are also first responders and veterans).

What is First Responder Property Watch?

First Responder Property Watch is an insured, bonded and accredited Home Watch Company servicing Edgewater, New Smyrna Beach, Ponce Inlet, Port Orange, Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach. We check your property and identify problems or potential problems that can occur while your property is unoccupied. We provide a physical presence that is not available through a remote alarm monitoring service. We can help with most requests you have by contacting us.

An alarm company provides security for my home. What value do you add?

An alarm company oversees the security of your home by monitoring entries and fire alarms. However, it doesn't extend its surveillance to weather-related damages, plumbing issues, mold infestations, pest invasions, or unwanted individuals. Additionally, it doesn't perform checks on your mechanical systems for optimal functionality. As an added benefit, we offer to serve as the primary contact for your alarm company, promptly responding to any emergencies as they arise

Are your services expensive?

We believe our services offer great value for the price. When you weigh the potential costs of damages from leaks, pests, or unwanted individuals against our fees, our services stand out as a cost-effective choice. We're eager to discuss the pricing for our home watch and concierge services during a complimentary consultation.

 Are you a property inspector?

While we do a visual inspection of a home or property looking for obvious issues, we don't fit the definition of a property inspector. Property inspectors typically come into play during property sales, conducting thorough examinations of structures, plumbing, electrical systems, and heating and air conditioning setups. If you need an inspector or a 4-point inspection I have a great retired firefighter who can assist with that.

If you find a problem what type of notification will I receive?

Upon concluding our visit to your home, First Responder Property Watch will promptly send you a report via text and/or email. Any issues detected will be documented with accompanying pictures and detailed descriptions. Should we need to take immediate steps to mitigate further damage, we'll promptly reach out to you to discuss the situation and determine the necessary course of action for repairs.
